主讲嘉宾简介
Dr. Sun is a researcher at Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction, University College London. He is a climate scholar with a multidisciplinary background spanning hydrology, meteorology, and the built environment. He completed both BEng and PhD at Tsinghua University, and undertook postdoc roles at Tsinghua and the University of Reading. His research interests include impacts of weather and climate extremes (e.g. heat waves, extreme rainfall, etc.) in cities and urban climate modelling across multiple scales as well as their broad linkages with public health and building energy sectors. He hold a NERC Independent Research Fellowship to lead the project entitled “Building Resilient Cities for Heat Waves”. His work has appeared in top journals including Science Advances, Nature Communications, Environmental Research Letters and others.
讲座主要内容
In this seminar, Dr. Sun will present their recent work on the interactions between human behaviours and urban climate based on our multi-scale modelling work centred in SUEWS, Surface Urban Energy and Water balance Scheme, a state-of-the-art urban climate model. More specifically, the human behaviours in London and their influence on urban temperature and boundary layer dynamics will be discussed. The presentation is expected to build synergies between our urban climate research and urban energy consumption studies.
